It all started in late August, 2008. Summer’s almost over, time to stop day-dreaming, school’s about to begin and new ideas and goals are rolling around the corner. So one fine day in August, an idea came up at Ryerson's "Ram in the Rye". A group of students sat down and contemplated on how they could raise awareness to schools about the Polish community and Polish clubs around Canada.

Enlightened, Peter Kluz proposed an idea, what if there was a nationwide student-led organization promoting student initiative around the country? What if this organization was connected to all larger profit and non-profit organizations in the Polish community? What if this organization lobbied for greater funding and scholarships for those involved in Polish clubs in universities across Canada? What if this organization helped sponsor student exchanges to Poland, scholarships, internships? What if... and the list goes on and on …

This idea was quickly picked up by Peter's friends at Ryerson's Polish Students' Associations who understood the potential of this undertaking. Since April, those involved with PISK established a tangible link with the Canadian Polish Congress, organized a conference where students from across Ontario and Quebec met with the prominent members of community to discuss how to improve the connection between students and Polonia.
Since the official September, 2009 elections, PISK has managed to formally create what was before only a vision of many, under the name Polish Students' Initiative of Canada. Contacts have been forged with both the Canadian Polish Congress and Polish student organizations across the country. The organization was presented officially on October 17, 2009 before the General Assembly of the Congress where it was greeted with great applause.
